BUHARI TO REOPEN POLITICAL KILLINGS AND OTHERS

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday promised that his administration will ensure that all cases of political assassination and kidnapping in the country are thoroughly investigated.

A statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, quoted the President as making the promise while addressing state chairmen of the All Progressives Congress who visited him at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Adesina said, “I can confirm to you that the President did say during the closed-door meeting he had with the APC state chairmen that his administration will ensure that all cases of political assassination, intimidation and kidnapping in the country are thoroughly investigated to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice. The President said the cases will be investigated irrespective of the perpetrators’ political affiliations.”

Buhari was said to have told the APC chiefs that he remained committed to providing a level playing field for all Nigerians to get on with their daily lives or participate in electing their leaders, without fear of intimidation.

He also promised that his administration would continuously strengthen Nigeria’s criminal justice system to curb the reign of injustice and impunity in the country.

The President said, “At every point, the law must be supreme and everyone must respect the law, if our democratic system is to survive. Injustice cannot survive for long. Justice will ultimately prevail. We will make sure that those saddled with the responsibility of ensuring justice and equity do not rest on their oars. The only way we can sustain our democracy is to ensure that the law remains supreme at all times. If the law is upheld, people will have confidence that they can vote for who they want to vote for, without intimidation or threats.

“The police and the judiciary must ensure that justice is done in the country. We won’t allow impunity to continue in certain states, where the rights of the people are being violated. I have a personal commitment to fair play and respect of personal rights. This government will do all that is possible to enforce that.”

While recalling his address to the National Executive Council of the APC on Friday, Buhari said now that the APC is the party in government, it must lead by example and consolidate on the gains of a democratic system.

The President urged the chairmen and other political leaders in the country to keep to prescribed legal processes for the resolution of political disputes and not resort to violence, criminality and other forms of unacceptable behaviour in seeking redress for any perceived injustice.

He also called on them to work with the party’s elected officials to ensure that the APC delivers on its promise of better living conditions for all Nigerians.

The leader of the delegation and chairman of the APC in Kano State, Umar Dogowa, reaffirmed their support for Buhari’s administration, assuring him that they would uphold the values of the party, promote peace and unity in the country.

Some of the chairmen in states controlled by other parties complained to Buhari of political intimidation and harassment in their states.

Dogowa later told State House correspondents that the APC chairmen were in the Presidential Villa to congratulate the President on his election.

He said Buhari promised them that he would continue to be a true party man and that he would not rest on his oars until Nigeria is back on track.

NFF sacks keshi

The Nigeria Football Federation on Saturday terminated its contract with Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi.
The sack may not be unconnected with Keshi’s application for a coaching job with the Ivory Coast national team.
The NFF had said the coach would be sacked if it was established that he actually applied for the job, a claim Keshi had consistently denied.
“Having thoroughly reviewed the reports/findings of the NFF disciplinary committee and NFF Technical and Development Committee, as well as having reviewed the actions and inactions of Mr. Stephen Keshi, in the performance of his duties as Super Eagles’ head coach, which we found to lack the required commitment to achieve the ederation’s objectives as set out in the coach’s employment contract,” a statement by the NFF Executive Committee read.
“To this end and pursuant to the provisions of clause 4.3 of the employment contract between Mr. Stephen Keshi and the NFF (the contract) and the various clauses therein, the Nigeria Football Federation has decided to exercise its option to summarily terminate the employment contract of Mr. Stephen Keshi with the Federation with immediate effect.”
“It added that the termination was “without prejudice to the settlement of any existing and due financial obligations between the NFF and Mr. Keshi.
“In the interim, the Super Eagles’ team affairs will be jointly managed by assistant Coach, Salisu Yusuf and the Technical Directorate of the NFF headed by Coach Shuaibu Amodu, until the Federation names in due course a new head coach, who, along with the NFF will chart a new direction for the Super Eagles to ensure credible participation in international competitions and assist in building a sustainable football culture for the country,” it concluded.
Both the NFF spokesman, Ademola Olajire and Keshi’s manager, Emmanuel Ado confirmed the development which took most Nigerians by surprise.

How my friends sold me to ritualist's for N150.000

Having too many friends sometimes leads to too many wahala. Hearing the story of kidnapped people for ritual purposes or for a ransom is disturbing and with dangerous elements that carry out these dastardly acts roaming freely amongst us, everyone is at risk.
Here is the story of a young man, Timothy Lawani, 25, a trader at Suleja roundabout area in Abuja, who was kidnapped for ritual purpose but survived the ordeal.

Lawani, in an interview with LEADERSHIP's Timothy Opaluwa, said it was God that saved him after he was kidnapped, tied up and was to be sacrificed in Kano.
"We reported the case at A division Police Station in Suleja, but the Policemen demanded the sum of N70,000 in order to start investigation. Since we do not have such amount, we resorted to prayers, and God answered us."

The incident happened at about 4am on January 14, 2015. Lawani went outside his family house at Old Barracks, Suleja to ease himself, when suddenly he heard someone call his name. Walking towards a red Volkswagen Golf parked behind his house, he was surprised to see an old friend, Friday, comfortably seated in the car beckoning on him with two hefty men.

Narrating his story, Lawani said, “In my confused state, I greeted them. One of them held me and the other sprayed a powder on my face. That was the last thing I could remember. I later saw myself in a very large hall with other young men who were tied up. The kidnappers kept bringing other people to join us. Sometimes, they even offered us food to eat which we all refused. They then said, whether we ate or not, we would die after all.

“After two days, we were made to put on white apparels and join a queue. I noticed that anyone who goes out never comes back; I was so scared. When it was my turn, I went outside, saw a large pool of water like swimming pool and a man standing by the side chanting incantations. He later ordered the guards to take me inside that they were not in need of someone like me.”

Continuing, Lawani said, “In my presence, the man called on Friday who came about 40 minutes later. After telling him that I was not acceptable for their rituals, Friday started flogging me mercilessly. He then ordered the men to take me out, but not before the ritualist got angry, and ordered the hefty men to bring Friday for sacrifice in my place. I heard him beg them to give him just 30 minutes to enable him bring another person, but the man said there was no time.

“With Friday’s hands and legs tied, the man began chanting incantations again. This time, I saw crocodiles coming out of the water. Friday was then thrown inside, the reptiles feasted on him. I was not myself because of the sight of blood and how such large reptiles ate up a whole human being. The man later ordered the men to throw me out, that I was useless to them. They sprayed a powder on my face again and I became unconscious.’’

On how he got back to his senses, Lawani recalled that he was sheltered by a Hausa man who saw him wandering in Gomoja area of Kano State.

After prayers were offered for him for about three days, he regained consciousness but could not speak. It was then he wrote down his father’s phone number which he easily remembered and with which they used to reach his family, that had been searching frantically for him.

His elder brother, Theophilus Lawani, said it was his friend who sold him to the kidnappers for N150,000. Theophilus further revealed that before the Hausa man called them from Kano, Lawani’s friend sent them several messages, telling them to forgive him for selling his friend.

“...We have decided to take my brother for further prayers in Kaduna,” Theophilus stated

Even Satan wasn't Gay - Mugabe Quotes bible against same sex marriage

Zimbabwean president, Robert Mugabe few days ago also lent his voice to the gay marriage in a sarcastic way.

In an attempt to drive home his point concerning how bad he thinks the same sex marriage is, the Zimbabwean president proposed to President Barrack Obama, asking for her hands in marriage.

During the interview, he was also said to have allegedly said:

“Even satan wasn’t Gay, he chose to approach naked Eve instead of naked Adam.”

Recall that when the then President Jonathan signed the Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act into law in January 2014, Obama had threatened to cut off foreign aid to Nigeria.

There was jubilation in the USA recently, following the announcement by the Supreme Court that the country had legalised same sex marriage throughout the federation.

Dollar will End up At N500 if...-Aliko Dangote

Dangote said this in an interview with newsmen a few days ago. Dangote discussed the state of the nation while explaining some details in his businesses that are geared towards a better life for Nigerians.

He called on Nigerians to invest at home and create jobs. “Five to 10 people can make Nigeria a great economy,” he said.

Below is what he said on fuel subsidy, his own words as captured by Onochie Anibeze:

“The issue with subsidy is that government needs to block all loopholes. If there’s no subsidy, it will affect our foreign exchange; we’ll end up buying a dollar at N500, because there’s no VAT on petroleum products. That’s why the import of petroleum products is taking about 30% of our foreign reserve. We just need to make sure that there’s no siphoning of money. The refining business requires volume. If you don’t have a massive volume, there’s no way you’ll make money. Most of the refineries in Africa are running at a big loss. It’s not possible for government officials to successfully manage oil businesses. It’s good enough if they remove the subsidy, but you can check with neighbouring countries like Senegal. If a poor person in Senegal can afford to pay subsidy, why can’t a poor person in Nigeria afford to pay. I think there must be something for the masses, which should be in terms of power, social insurance, good education system, good roads etc.”
Meanwhile, Dangote had earlier revealed that he does not have any property outside Nigeria despite his immense wealth.

Book Haram Executed 145 People in Borno village in 2days

The fighters of the dreaded Boko Haram sect laid a siege to some Borno communities between Tuesday and Wednesday night and killed 145 persons and injured several others.

Some of the deceased were killed in some mosques where the villagers had gone to pray after breaking Wednesday’s fast.

The attacks occurred in some villages in Monguno and Kukawa local government areas of the state.

The Tuesday attack was on Musarram village, located 8km away from Monguno town, in northern part of the troubled state, where 48 males where picked out by the insurgents and killed, according to a resident of the village and some fleeing residents.

In the second attack on Wednesday, the insurgents attacked Kukawa, a border town with Niger Republic and killed 97 persons, according to a fleeing resident, Abba Modu, who spoke to our correspondent in Maiduguri.

Another fleeing resident, Idi Isa, said over 48 persons were killed and 17 others injured when the insurgents attacked Musara, a village that is few kilometres to Monguno on Tuesday.

Isa, who claimed he escaped death by a whisker, said the well-armed terrorists numbering about 40 rounded up the villagers, sorted out the males and opened fire on them.

Isa said, “A total of 48 males died on the spot while 17 others escaped with serious injuries.”

Isa, who spoke on Thursday in Maiduguri, said the image of the killing was disturbing and he still felt he was still being hunted by the insurgents.

A member of the House of Representatives representing the area, Muhammed Tahir Monguno, who spoke to journalists on the telephone in Maiduguri, confirmed the sad incident.

He said, “I received the sad news yesterday (Wednesday) that Boko Haram terrorists had attacked some communities near Monguno.

“Since their dislodgment from the Sambisa Forest, many Boko Haram terrorists had relocated to areas around Monguno where they have been picking on hapless villagers and killing residents there.

“On Tuesday, the terrorists attacked the twin villages of Mussaram I and Mussaram II in the night. They went there when the villagers were resting after the day’s fasting and assembled them before opening fire on them.”

In the second attack on the historic Kukawa town on Wednesday, Modu said suspected Boko Haram terrorists killed about 97 persons.

Modu, a farmer who fled to Maiduguri, said over 50 suspected members of Boko Haram stormed Kukawa at about 6.30pm.

He said, “The terrorists first descended on Muslim worshippers in various mosques who were observing the Magrib prayers shortly after breaking their fast.”

He said after the attack on the worshippers, they rounded up about four different communities where they went to their mosques and opened fire on the worshippers who were mostly men and young children.

Modu said, “They spared nobody and they even took time out to set most of the corpses on fire.

“They equally proceeded to houses and shot indiscriminately at women who were preparing food.”

One of the bereaved residents of the town, Yusuf Aisami, said the terrorists killed his aunt.

He said, “They killed my uncle and his children. They killed his children, about five of them and set his entire house ablaze. I can tell you that the attackers killed at least 97 persons in the attack.”

A member of the vigilante group in the area, Modu Kurawa, said the attack was on for over four hours.

Kurawa said, “There was no single soldier in Kukawa when the terrorists came around 6.30pm. The soldiers were in Kuros-Kawwa which is just 11 kilometres away. The terrorists stole assorted foodstuff from houses and homes and then set everything ablaze. They left around 11 pm.”

There was no immediate comment on the attack from both the military and the police in Maiduguri.

Man Abandoned Pregnant Wife With 3 Set Of Twins & 6 Kids in Lagos

A man identified as Emeka Benjamin Uche is now wanted for abandoning his wife and 6 children over his inability to cater to their needs.

The 39-year-old factory worker abandoned his wife 34-year-old Ruth with their children since February 2015.

The woman said her hubby fled on hearing she is pregnant with the couple’s 3rd set of twins.

Ruth Uche brought the children to Lagos State Secretariat in Alausa yesterday pleading for help.

In 2009, a year after their marriage, she delivered two girls, Goodness and Goodnews.

2 years later in 2011, she produced another set of twins, Joyce and John but when her hubby learnt that her 3rd pregnancy was another set of twins, he fled their home at #32 Awori Street in Agege Lagos to an undisclosed location in Ikorodu Lagos.

Ruth delivered her 3rd set of twins last week and named them Daniel and Daniella.

Mrs. Uche said she could no longer cope with widening needs for food, clothes, drugs and school fees.

She said her salary as a teacher in a private school in Lagos no longer meet their needs.

Hear her story:

“I met my husband in 2002 but we got married in 2008. We met in the village at Umuahia. I don’t want to leave the children and run away. This is why I want government to help us,”

“I was using traditional way of family planning where I calculate some days before having intercourse. It was working for me. You can see my first set of twins is four years old.

“You know as women, we cannot deny our husband that thing whenever they request for it. Whenever I mistakenly take in, he would say that I was pretending. Sometimes, I would go through long process to abort the pregnancy. After that, another one would happen. I would still have to go through the process again to abort it. When this one happened he still insisted that I was pretending until the pregnancy became obvious.”

“My Church was responsible for the payment of the first delivery. The church paid N120, 000 for the delivery of the first set of twins. The two deliveries of the twins have been through Caesarean Section for which we paid N120, 000 each. The last twins are through normal delivery”.

“Since I gave birth to the children, I have tried calling my husband but he would not pick once he knows that it is me. I contacted his mother and other relatives to tell them that he has run away. They promised that they will call back. Since then, none of them has called me. It is not easy for me at all.

“I know only two of his relations. One of them lives in Ikorodu; the other one lives at Ajegunle. My elder brother, who could have also helped, is very angry with me for giving birth to another set of twins. He warned me before not to have any other child after the two sets of twins, especially with the kind of husband I have.

“I cannot put my hands in blood shedding by committing abortion. I want Nigerians to help me because there is nobody to pay their school fees.

“I went for immunisation some days ago and I told them my condition and why they have not been seeing me. It was there that they advised that I should come to government. Government should please help my children; no one to help me with house rent, electricity bill, school fees, food and so on,” .

Again Petrol scarcity Hits Abuja

Despite claims of premium motor spirit availability in stock by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), queues at petrol continued to lengthen on Thursday.

Checks around Abuja and its environs showed that most stations were without the product. The few which were dispensing petrol such as the NNPC Mega station in Central Area and the NNPC Superstation along Kubwa Expressway had very long queues.

While black marketers were not yet out on full scale, petrol was being sold at N150 per litre by young men close to the filling stations.

Residents and motorists of the federal capital had just three weeks ago emerged from a four months acute shortage of petrol which only ended after the intervention of NNPC management.

Abuja Zonal Office of DPR had on Wednesday disclosed that 6.2 million litres (188 trucks) of petrol was supplied to Abuja and its environs to check the growing queues at petrol stations.

Zonal spokesman, Halidu Saidu, explained that about one million litres of petrol were lifted on Monday while 2.1million litres were lifted on Tuesday as against eight million litres daily supply to Abuja.

He blamed the sudden shortage being experienced by Abuja motorists on a drop in the lifting of fuel by marketers from Suleja Depot.

Facebook plans to be like YouTube

For a decade now, YouTube had been a go to website for any kind of video searches. The site has provided an excellent platform for the individuals and also the media corporations to showcase their product to the world. It is a source of livelihood for many people who have created their own successful YouTube channel. But now YouTube faces competition.

Facebook is now luring media giants like NBA and Fox Sports, and others, with a revenue split from the total share of the profit that Facebook earns from their videos. Well, this is not out of generosity. Facebook has a viewership of about 4 billion videos daily and it yearns to see more, with an ultimate aim to topple YouTube from the throne.

Facebook has decided to split the revenue 45-55, where the social media giant gets 45% and the rest goes to the video creators. This is the same revenue split as the YouTube, but the company asserts it provides an advantage to the media corporations with its massive reach. Plus, it will display the videos itself without the users having to search for it. Moreover, the algorithm that Facebook has decided to use would be targeting the users as per their interests while showing more videos in the Suggested Videos Feed, much like the News Feed.

Facebook has been offering videos for a long time now, but using the pre-roll ads now would be where it is going to earn a lot more. The social network has had many changes to its business model in the past couple of years to make it a multi-billion dollar company and still rising. The company has been under a lot of criticism lately due to the way it endorses its products and the reach it provides to the small  businesses that depend on it.

Facebook does look serious this time with its new venture with the big brands to entice more users to stay on their page. It will take few months till the company’s plan surfaces, whereas it will totally depend on the public to make it a success.

Until then YouTube comfortably stays at the top of the searches when it comes to digital videos.

I will repeat Chelsea success at Arsenal-Peter cech

Goalkeeper Petr Cech believes Arsenal are ready to clear the final hurdle needed to end the Premier League title drought, and said he was overwhelmed by the support he has received from fans and teammates at his new club.

Cech, the most successful keeper in Chelsea’s history having won four Premier League titles and one Champions League, said his decision to sign with Arsenal this week came down to a belief the London club can win a first league title in 12 years. “The last few days were really overwhelming,” Cech told reporters.

“The welcome messages from my teammates and Arsenal fans were absolutely unbelievable. “Last season it was a great season (for Arsenal), but there was something missing, just a little last jump over the hurdle. I believe this team has the potential to challenge for trophies.”

FA Cup holders, Arsenal, have not won the Premier League since 2004 and finished 12 points behind champions, Chelsea, last season. The 33-year-old, a long-serving Chelsea goalkeeper, reiterated he never thought he would leave Stamford Bridge but had no alternative after becoming second-choice to Belgian Thibaut Courtois last season.

Cech, who will play one of his first games for Arsenal against his former club in the Community Shield at Wembley on August 2, will join Arsenal’s training sessions in the second week of July before the club heads to Asia for exhibition matches. “I am looking forward to the new chapter, to the new challenge and I believe that what I have achieved at Chelsea I will achieve at Arsenal too,” Cech said

8 killed as train falls into canal in Pakistan

At least 8 people including a senior army officer were killed on Thursday when a train carrying soldiers and military hardware fell into a canal in Pakistan following the partial collapse of a bridge, officials said.

The accident occurred near the eastern town of Wazirabad in the country’s most populous province Punjab as it headed to the garrison town of Kharian.

A statement issued by the military said four carriages derailed as the train crossed Chanawan Bridge.

Military spokesman Asim Bajwa tweeted that eight bodies, including “Lieutenant Colonel Amir”, the commander of a unit, had so far been recovered while a further four people were missing.

A rescue mission involving rubber dinghies, helicopters and divers was launched, live TV footage showed.

Rauf Tahir, a spokesman for the railways ministry confirmed the incident, adding that the injured were taken to a military hospital in the nearby city of Gujranwala.

Pakistan inherited thousands of miles of track and trains from the former colonial power, Britain, but the railways have seen decades of decline due to corruption, mismanagement and under-investment.

In May, seven people including the ambassadors of Norway and the Philippines were killed after a Pakistani military helicopter crashed on its way to the country’s mountainous north where the diplomats were set to inspect tourism projects.

The Indonesian ambassador later succumbed to his injuries after being flown to a hospital in Singapore.

5 Effects Of Coke To Your Health

People who watch their diet and keep track of what they eat and drink already know that coke should be avoided. This is what any doctor will advise you to do.

The chemicals and sugar contained in fizzy drinks ruin your health. They are addictive and getting rid of this bad habit is not that easy. Do not drink Coke if you want to stay fit and healthy.

Though diet colas are calorie-free, they may do more harm than good for dieters. In 2011, a University of Texas research study found that over the course of a decade, diet-soda drinkers gained considerably more belly fat than those who didn’t drink diet sodas. Diet soda may also contribute to elevated blood-glucose levels and Type 2 diabetes. To find a satisfying substitute for diet cola, consider what you like most about the drink. Whether you crave the fizz, caffeine, flavor or ritual of a drink break, other options will fulfill your cravings and do more for your health and well-being.

Bad teeth

Cavities occur when we consume too many sugary and acidic foods and drinks. Coke is no exception. It contains both and ruins the enamel. To fix the problem will cost you money. Dental work is never cheap. Of course, you can try and brush your teeth after drinking sodas, but the smarter choice is to avoid them and drink water instead.

Risk of diabetes

Carbs is another name for sugars. Most foods contain a lot of carbs. Pouring Coke on top will only make the problem worse. It takes only 20 minutes to increase your blood sugar. It’s extremely hard to treat diabetes hence we suggest you should stop drinking all brands of sodas, Coke included.

Poor metabolism

Do not trust commercials where you see famous sportsmen drinking Coke after a training session. You will keep piling up pounds merely by drinking Coke because sugary sodas slow down your metabolism and your body does not burn fat as efficiently. Drink plain water!

NDLEA After Davido over his new music video

Nigerian artistes are sometimes known to be reckless with their music videos. Sometimes ago, Olamide shot a video for his song, ‘Story For The gods’, which some people were not happy about because it showed ladies intending to caress each other.

Popular Nigerian artiste, Davido, did a song with US-based artiste, Meek Mill entitled ‘Fans Mi’ and he recently released the video.

But this seems to have landed him in trouble because of a scene the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) is not happy about.

In the visuals, a scene showed where a briefcase full of cash and a bag full parcel of hard drugs were put on display.

Speaking on the video, NDLEA’s Head of Public Affairs, Michael Ofoyeju, said the agency considers the video inappropriate and indecent.

“The agency considers the musical video ‘Fans Mi’ inappropriate and indecent. It has the tendency to negatively influence and induce drug use and trafficking. Besides, it is counter-productive on the campaign against drug production, trafficking and abuse. The agency is investigating the matter and will take necessary action,” Ofoyeju said.

Pls by all means cancel delete, omit best international act (Africa) category out of the glorified awards.
This is wrong!!! Wrong wrong wrong.

Okonjo Iweala Spent $2.1b Without Approval, says FG

The National Economic Council, chaired by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, on Monday accused a former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy under ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, of spending $2.1bn from the Excess Crude Account without authorisation.

“We looked at the numbers for the Excess Crude Account. The last time the former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, reported to the council, and it is in the minutes, she reported by November 2014 that we had $4.1 bn.

“Today, the Accountant-General Office reported we have $2.0bn. Which means the honourable minister spent $2.1bn without authority of the NEC and that money was not distributed to states, it was not paid to the three tiers of government,” Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole told State House correspondents after the NEC’s 58th meeting in Abuja.

The ‘unauthorised’ spending, according to the economic council, is among the several anomalies discovered in the management of the nation’s economy between 2012 and May 2015.

Within the period, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation was said to have earned a total of N8.1 tn but remitted only N4.3tn.

Consequently, the Federal Government has constituted Oshiomhole, Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai; Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel; and Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo, into a panel to probe the NNPC and the ECA between 2012 and May, 2015.

Oshiomhole, el-Rufai, Emmanuel and the Zamfara State Governor, Abdulazeez Yari, jointly briefed journalists at the end of the meeting.

Yari told the journalists, through the Director of Funds, Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr. M.K. Dikwa, that council members received the report of the ECA and unremitted funds by the NNPC.

He said, “On that line, a four-man committee consisting of the governors of Edo, Gombe, Kaduna and Akwa Ibom states was constituted to go through the books of the NNPC and Excess Crude as well as the Federation Account.

”The four-man committee will check the books of the NNPC, most especially the issue of excess crude and what is not remitted into the Federation Account.

“The Federal Government, in conjunction with the Central Bank of Nigeria, will look inwards to see how to support and how much they will give to states, especially on the issue of outstanding salaries owed by the states and even the Federal Government.”

Shedding new light on what transpired at the NEC meeting, Oshiomhole said the NNPC and the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation were compelled for the first time to provide information on the total sales of Nigeria’s crude from 2012 to May 2015.

The Edo governor said, “We are talking about transparency; we are talking about change. And what we saw from those numbers, which I believe that Nigerians are entitled to know, is that whereas the NNPC claimed to have earned N8.1tn, what NNPC paid into the Federation Account from 2012 to May 2015 was N4.3tn.

“What it means is that the NNPC withheld and spent N3.8 tn.

“The major revelation here is that the entire federation, that is the Federal Government, the states and all the 774 local governments, the amount the NNPC paid into the Federation Account for distribution to these three tiers of government came to N4.3 tn and the NNPC alone took and spent N3.8tn.

“This means that the cost of running the NNPC is much more than the cost of running the Federal Government. That tells you how much is missing, what is mismanaged and what is stolen. There are huge figures.”

Oshiomhole said the only lawful way decreed by the Constitution was that if the NNPC needed to spend money, it needed to prepare its budget like every other business enterprise, get it scrutinised by the executive and then forward same to the National Assembly for appropriation.

He added, “If the Federal Government cannot spend without appropriation, why should any agency spend without appropriation.
